Shirley's Bay - Ontario
One of the pleasures of landscape photography is that to get the best images you have to be in the best locations long after the crowds have gone or long before they arrive. On this particular evening I arrived at Shirley’s Bay about half an hour before sunset to find the beach still quite busy with a mix of canoeists, boaters, swimmers and the ubiquitous screaming banshees otherwise known as teenage girls. Within ten minutes of the sun setting I was left alone with several hundred the mosquitoes to photograph the stillness of the evening and the wonderful pink and orange twilight. Contortion in Wood
I was out scouting a new location for photo opportunities at the weekend and came across this wonderfully contorted tree by the rivers edge. The weathered growth rings made for a great monotone conversion with lots of local contrast.
